Minha Lanterna
A song from Salvador in Brazil
Minha Lanterna means "my lantern" and the song was written by Pedro Ivo, one of the co-founders of the kindergarten project in Salvador in Brazil. Pedro Ivo composed the song for children and it is meant to bring hope.

I will light my lantern
To light the darkness

To sing with his voice and heart
To bring back hope
And to shine the light in the heart.
The Salva Dor institution in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, has been caring for the youngest children for many years by taking them off the streets, providing them with loving care and three meals a day, care that their own parents unfortunately do not give them. Together with the rhythm cultivated in the kindergarten and the activities worthy of imitation, the children thus receive an inner and outer stability which hopefully contributes to them living through their adolescent years more vigorously.

The collection of songs from all over the world was created as part of the single-day campaign Waldorf-One-World-Day, WOW-Day for short. On this day, children and young people are directly and actively committed to a better world. Besides, they organize a multiplicity of special donation actions, that connect humans on all continents with one another.
