Shanti Song
A Song from Nepal
The Shanti Sewa Griha institutions in Nepal have shared the Shanti Song with us. In 1992, 13 patients started the initiative that today unites a number of institutions under the name Shanti Sewa Griha to do social work for people in Nepal who live on the margins of society: poor people, lepers and people with disabilities, in short: outcasts. Over time, a Waldorf school, a kindergarten, a farm, workshops, a clinic, a soup kitchen and even two villages have been established. More than 800 people find shelter, care and a task here.
The Shanti Song describes the life and togetherness in the Shanti Sewa Griha institutions. The word Shanti is an ancient Indian Sanskrit word meaning "absolute inner peace".
The collection of songs from all over the world was created as part of the single-day campaign Waldorf-One-World-Day, WOW-Day for short. On this day, children and young people are directly and actively committed to a better world. Besides, they organize a multiplicity of special donation actions, that connect humans on all continents with one another.
