Kenya: Waldorf pupils from Ismaning at the Mbagathi Rudolf Steiner School

Pupils Lelia, Paulina and Kubilay from the Waldorf School in Ismaning near Munich spent three weeks at the Mbagathi Rudolf Steiner School in Nairobi to take part in various practical and educational activities.

Children at a Waldorf school in Kenya run out of the school building.

For example, they helped prepare daily meals in the school kitchen. In the kindergarten, they supported the teachers in their fun activities with the children. They also gained experience on the school farm, where they learned about biodynamic agriculture.

Keziah Maua, a teacher at the school in Mbagathi, supervised the visit and found it to be an enriching experience for everyone involved – for the community of the Mbagathi Rudolf Steiner School as well as for the three students from Ismaning themselves. ‘All three were respectful, curious and eager to learn’, she reports. ‘They built strong connections with our pupils and staff and made many lasting friendships. There was also a wonderful intercultural exchange, and everyone was able to learn from one other. We look forward to many more such exchanges in the future.’
