"We are immensely grateful": Help for kindergartens in Sarajevo

News ,  Corona ,  Current news ,  Waldorf worldwide

In Bosnia-Herzegovina there are currently no Waldorf Schools. but a small number of Waldorf kindergartens. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, closures and work-bans have been imposed on professions that are not part of the public services. This has led to a severe loss of income for many families. For the Kolibica kindergarten in Sarajevo, founded five years ago, the consequences were felt quickly.

Arising from our appeal for donations: "Mitigating the consequences of the Corona crisis", we have been able to support three kindergartens in Sarajevo with financial support of more than €35,000.

One of them is the kindergarten Kolibica, to which we will provide the kindergarten in Kolibica with a monthly amount of approximately €2,800 for five months, starting in April. This will enable the kindergarten to continue paying the salaries of the kindergarten teachers. In an email, the kindergarten leader thanked us from the bottom of her heart: "Our thanks for your support is huge! The help came at exactly the right moment. The employment restrictions, triggered by Covid-19, have meant that our income from parental contributions has all but dried up. This has placed our colleagues in an extremely difficult financial situation. Thanks to the donations, we are now able to continue paying our employees' salaries and thus help the parents who are currently unable to pay the full kindergarten fees. Your support in these difficult times gives us a feeling of security and hope, for which we are immensely grateful.”
