On Friday, November 4th, 2016 another mission team from the Friends of Waldorf Education set off.
This is the eleventh time the emergency pedagogues are traveling to Northern Iraq, to further train local colleagues and to support children and adolescents.
For two weeks, they will help affected persons to process what has happened in order to prevent trauma related disorders. Many have ssen, how relatives and friends were killed by members of ISIS or how they did not survive the flight in the hot summer months. Especially children have difficulty understanding and categorising these experiences. They need safe spaces and order.
The Child Friendly Spaces, which have been established in the refugee camps, are such spaces. They offer the children reliability and order and the opportunity to play and experience joy.
Because regularity places such an important role here, the daily work carried out by the pedagogues on site, is especially valuable. Standing by their side and training them, is an further focus of this mission. read more
